Paying on the Nintendo eShop: cards, funds and no change-of-mind refunds
Nintendo keeps payment simple and refunds simpler still: there are none for changing your mind. Check the price and the platform twice before you press buy.
Visa and Mastercard cards issued in the UK, PayPal for adults, and eShop cards from shops. No change-of-mind refunds on digital games.

eShop funds
You can add funds by card, PayPal or an eShop card code. In pounds the balance is capped at £340, and no more than £340 can be added in 24 hours. A parent can load a fixed amount onto a child's account so that the child can only spend that balance.
Refunds
Nintendo does not refund digital games or add-ons because you changed your mind: at checkout you agree to immediate supply, which ends the 14-day cancellation right. Pre-orders can be cancelled until the game starts pre-loading, which is up to seven days before release. Faults are a separate matter: the Consumer Rights Act still applies to content that does not work.
Pre-orders
Nintendo charges the full price no earlier than seven days before release. If the payment fails, the pre-order is cancelled.
Nintendo Switch Online prices
Online play on Switch needs Nintendo Switch Online: £3.49 for a month, £6.99 for three months or £17.99 for a year for one person, or £31.49 a year for a family of up to eight. With the Expansion Pack it is £34.99 a year for one or £59.99 for a family. Automatic renewal is optional and not available to under-18s.
Family controls
A parent's account can block eShop purchases on a child's Nintendo Account or pre-load a fixed amount, and the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app adds play-time limits and reports.
