Why we built a site about paying for games

Worth the Quid started from a simple annoyance: finding out what a famous game really costs in the UK, and how you can pay for it, takes a dozen browser tabs. The price on the shop front is rarely the whole story once editions, expansions, currencies and subscriptions get involved.

So we do the tabs for you. Each of our twelve reviews lays out every UK shop that sells the game, what each edition costs in pounds, which payment methods each shop takes, what happens if you want a refund, and whether a subscription would get you in for less. Then we say plainly whether it is worth the money.

Who we are

We are a small independent publication based in Newport, South Wales. We are not a shop, we do not sell games or payment services, and we are not connected to any publisher or platform we write about.

What we will not do

• Take money from shops or publishers for coverage, placement or scores.
• Recommend borrowing to pay for games, or point you to credit products.
• Cover games that sell paid random items.
