Where to buy Factorio and how to pay

On PC Factorio costs £30.00 on Steam and on GOG, and the Space Age expansion is another £30.00, so £60 for the full package. There is no bundle discount and never has been: Steam's page still carries Wube's note that it has no plans to join a sale or cut the price. The one change in its history was a rise in January 2023 to match inflation since 2016.

Buying on factorio.com gets you DRM-free downloads of every version plus a free Steam key once you link accounts. The checkout is run by Humble, which takes cards and PayPal. On Nintendo's shop the game and its expansion are £27.00 apiece, and owners of the Switch version move to the Switch 2 Edition at no charge.

Subscriptions that include it

Factorio is not in any subscription, and on Switch you need Nintendo Switch Online only for online multiplayer. On PC, online play and the mod portal are free with a factorio.com account.

What you are paying for

You crash-land on a hostile planet and begin by mining ore by hand. Within hours you are designing conveyor lines, oil refineries and logistics robots, then defending the sprawling result from native creatures, all in pursuit of launching a rocket. It is a puzzle game about systems, and it is famously hard to put down.

HowLongToBeat players report about 53 hours for the main goal and more than 220 for everything. Space Age adds space platforms, four new planets with their own resources and hazards, quality tiers for items and elevated rails. Wube calls its current 2.1 update the last major one, so the game you buy is essentially finished.

The refund promise, read carefully

factorio.com's buy page offers a 28-day refund guarantee. Its help page says refunds within 14 days go through Humble's support and later requests to Wube by email, and its terms mention 30 days for faults or double purchases. All three are more generous than the law requires; if you need one, email Wube and quote the page you relied on.

Copies bought on Steam or GOG follow those stores' rules instead: on Steam that means within 14 days and under two hours played.
