Where to buy Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut and how to pay

On a Windows PC the Director's Cut costs £49.99 at both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and that one purchase includes the main story, the Iki Island expansion and the Legends co-op mode. On PlayStation the same content costs £69.99 for PS5 or £59.99 for PS4, a £20 gap for the same game.

Nothing else is sold inside the game. Sucker Punch confirmed before launch that Legends would carry no paid items, and every piece of armour and every cosmetic is earned by playing.

There is no cross-buy: a PlayStation copy does not unlock the PC version, and a Steam copy does not carry over to Epic.

Subscriptions that include it

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members can play the PS5 Director's Cut from the Game Catalogue at no extra charge. It is a licence that lasts only as long as the subscription: stop paying and the game locks until you subscribe again or buy it. If you would finish the story in a month or two, one month of Extra is the cheapest way to play on a PS5.

What you are paying for

You play Jin Sakai, a samurai on the island of Tsushima during the Mongol invasion of 1274. Fights can open with a formal standoff or be avoided altogether with stealth, and the tension between those two styles drives the story. Instead of a cluttered map, a gust of wind points the way, and an optional black-and-white mode nods to classic samurai cinema.

HowLongToBeat players report about 25 hours for the main story, around 46 with side stories and about 62 to see everything. The Iki Island expansion adds roughly five more hours of story. Difficulty runs up to a punishing Lethal setting, with a generous list of accessibility options.

Legends is a separate online co-op mode for up to four players, with four classes and missions drawn from Japanese folklore. PC and PlayStation players have been able to team up since July 2024.

The PlayStation account question on PC

On Steam and Epic you only need a PlayStation Network account for Legends and the PlayStation overlay. The whole story plays without one. When the PC version launched in May 2024, the account requirement led Sony to pull it from sale in around 177 countries where PSN is not offered; the UK was never affected, and the restriction was lifted in October 2025 when Legends became a separate free unlock.

On PS4 and PS5, playing Legends online needs a PlayStation Plus subscription, as with most online console games.

Upgrades and buying twice

PS4 owners of the original game can add the Director's Cut content for £15.99 on the PlayStation Store. Price lists maintained by PSprices also show upgrades to the PS5 version, but they only appear when you are signed in, so check the figure on your own console before paying.

Legends is also sold on its own for £15.99 on PlayStation, without the story. If you want both, the full Director's Cut is the better buy.
